Dr. Vijay Bora is among the senior-most urologists in Agra, with 28+ years of practice, an MCh in Urology from IMS-BHU (Gold Medalist in MS General Surgery), and 15,000+ TURP and 10,000+ PCNL procedures. He heads the Department of Urology at Pushpanjali Hospital and is a Past President of the North Zone Urological Society of India. When choosing a urologist, look for an MCh qualification, years of surgical experience, procedure volumes and peer recognition.
MCh (Magister Chirurgiae) is India's highest surgical super-specialty degree. It requires completing MBBS, then a full MS in General Surgery, then years of dedicated advanced training in urology, typically 11+ years of medical education in total.
Most stones today are treated endoscopically, through natural passages or a keyhole-sized tract, using techniques like URS (through the urinary passage) and Mini-PCNL (a small puncture in the back), often with laser fragmentation. Hospital stay is usually short, and recovery is much faster than open surgery. The right technique depends on stone size, location and your overall health, which is assessed at consultation.
Blood in urine, recurrent burning or difficulty while urinating, flank or lower-abdominal pain, a weak urinary stream, frequent night-time urination, or urine leakage all warrant evaluation. Early consultation usually means simpler treatment.
